Pioneering Christian Rap Group P.I.D. Returns with New Music on Holy Culture Records

Preachers In Disguise (P.I.D.), one of the founding groups of Christian Hip Hop, is making a powerful comeback. After releasing several singles throughout 2024, the legendary group has announced plans to release more music in 2025 under Holy Culture Records.

P.I.D., comprised of Fred Lynch, Jonathon Johnson (King Solomon Jay), and Richard Martin (Ace One The MC), first emerged in 1986, releasing their debut project Here We Are in 1988. Known for their innovative approach to ministry through rap, the group coined their name from the concept of being “Holy Ghost Preachers in rapping disguise,” using hip-hop as a tool to spread the Gospel.

Their reunion journey began in 2021 during the making of the documentary Mic Drop: The Culture of Christian Hip Hop, which brought several CHH pioneers together. This experience reignited their passion for both music and ministry. Ace One shared in a statement, “As we began to perform together again after 35 years, we were surprisingly pursued by Holy Culture Records to come back to the music scene and share this gift on a worldwide platform.” He added that the group aims to inspire the CHH community through their creativity and authenticity as seasoned artists.
